Combat

Skeletons will fight in as direct a manner as possible, usually attacking enemies en masse, and using whatever weapon (if any) happens to be in their hand at the time. They are fearless and fight to the death unless commanded otherwise.

Ecology

Uncontrolled skeletons are not a natural part of the ecosystem, and tend to disrupt any environment into which they enter.

Controlled skeletons, while also not natural, are usually less generally destructive, and serve whatever role their master commands.
